Who are WTT?

The Working Together Team are an education based support service commissioned by Lincolnshire County Council.

What is the role of WTT?

We work with settings by offering advice and training to professionals to support inclusive practice and positive outcomes for autistic children and young people and social communication needs from 4 up to the age of 19 years old.

“The team are very knowledgeable about best practice in supporting autistic pupils in mainstream education. They are committed to seeking to overcome obstacles to autistic pupils being included in mainstream schools. They recognise the importance of empowering and skilling up staff in mainstream schools. The team is established as a source of expertise in educating autistic pupils in mainstream settings” NAS Accreditation 2019

How do WTT work?

  • Children and young people do not need a diagnosis of autism in order for settings to access WTT support through the WTT Ladder.
  • WTT are not part of the autism diagnostic pathway.
  • Settings can access WTT support through our WTT Ladder.
  • WTT support is accessed via the settings SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator / SEN Inclusion Lead) and or the Head Teacher/Principal.
  • If a setting (and family) has concerns about a child/young person's social communication differences, they will start utislising the WTT Ladder.
  • WTT can support families through working with their Child or Young Person's setting.
  • WTT do not work directly with children/young people.

In the first instance please contact your school's SENCO for a discussion if you have any concerns about your child's needs.

NAS Earlybird Plus

The EarlyBird Plus programme aims to equip parents and carers to develop a greater understanding of their child’s needs, following a diagnosis. The programme also aims to develop a consistent approach across settings (eg home and school). We encourage parents and carers to attend the sessions with a professional who is working regularly with their child.

Parents are able to attend the programme without a supporting professional if they do not find someone available on the date.
Our programme empowers parents and professionals to understand more about autism and the needs of the autistic children they support.

Topics include:

  • communication and interaction
  • using structure to support the autistic child in a range of settings and situations
  • developing social skills
  • understanding and supporting the child’s behaviour
  • problem solving.

An EarlyBird Plus parent book will be provided to each family attending the sessions.
